Job summary

Best Buy is seeking an Engineer II on the Marketplace team to build and support web experiences for sellers and customers. You will create scalable frontend platforms using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and modern tooling, delivering high-quality, accessible experiences across devices.

You will collaborate with product, design, and backend teams, integrate APIs, and drive end-to-end delivery while adapting to a fast-changing environment. This role offers remote work with proximity to Richfield, MN.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT/CS/Engineering or related field or equivalent professional experience.
• 2+ years of Enterprise Software Engineering experience at scale.
• 2+ years of development with React, Next.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, Redux, HTML, CSS, Storybook and related tools.
• 1+ years of REST web services experience.

Job description

As an Engineer II with our Marketplace team, you will help build and support web experiences for sellers and customers, enabling them to discover, research, and purchase products through Best Buy’s marketplace ecosystem and digital commerce channels. Our mission is to build and evolve modern, scalable frontend platforms that power seamless user experiences. As part of the Marketplace engineering team, you’ll develop and enhance web applications for product discovery, seller platform, shopping, and commerce integrations. You’ll build responsive, accessible, and high-performance web applications using modern frontend technologies. Our technology stack includes React, Next.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, REST APIs, GraphQL, Storybook and modern UI component libraries. You’ll work closely with backend services and APIs to deliver seamless end-to-end customer experiences. We seek a passionate frontend engineer with expertise in user experience and building high-quality web applications that delight users.

You’ll primarily work virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location, but must live within a drivable distance to our corporate campus in Richfield, Minnesota. Specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide details during the hiring process.

What You’ll Do

• Build responsive, accessible, and high-performance web applications that deliver exceptional user experiences across desktop and mobile platforms.


• Design, develop, and maintain reusable frontend applications and UI components using React, Next.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and Storybook.


• Integrate RESTful APIs and GraphQL services to create seamless, data-driven user experiences.


• Deliver simple, scalable solutions that enable rapid iteration, experimentation, and continuous delivery of customer value.


• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers through pair programming, design sessions, code reviews, and shared application ownership.


• Thrive in fast-changing environments by adapting to evolving requirements, taking ownership from ideation through delivery, and driving successful outcomes.

Basic Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent relevant professional experience


• 2+ years of relevant Enterprise Software Engineering experience at scale


• 2+ years of development experience with React, Next.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, Redux, HTML, CSS, Storybook and related technologies while leveraging modern tools such as GitHub, GitHub Actions, Webpack/Vite, and CI/CD pipelines.


• 1+ years of experience with REST web services and/or similar technologies

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree OR equivalent relevant professional experience.


• Experience building web UI using modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React) or working on MCP-style applications


• 3+ years of development experience with Java, Spring, REST web services and similar technologies


• Knowledge of modern deployment practices, CI/CD, and GitHub Actions


• Ability and aptitude to solve complex problems and make pragmatic tradeoffs in a fast-moving, evolving environment


• Familiarity with networking, security, and infrastructure concepts (e.g., load balancers, DNS, firewalls)
