The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capability Unit (SCU) at BAE Systems Inc, Space and Mission Systems Sector, is seeking a talented and energetic software engineer to work on satellite ground system software, delivering new capabilities to the industry. This role involves working within a tightly integrated team in a fast-paced Agile environment to provide continuous innovation for our customers.

The ESA Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises technical talent and organizational leadership that enable the successful delivery of high-impact technologies for our customers' missions. What You'll Do:

1. Develop satellite command and control, mission planning, and data analysis software systems.
2. Perform full software lifecycle functions including requirements, architecture, design, coding, testing, integration, documentation, and support.
3. Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
4. Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, across the Strategic Business Units, and the Company, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
5. Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment:

This position requires regular in-person engagement, working on-site five days each scheduled week at the primary work location. Travel between company campuses and other locations may be required.

Working Conditions:

• Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors, or in remote research environments.
• Occasional work in production centers with protective equipment and gear.
• Access to facilities in various weather conditions.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field, plus at least 2 years of related experience. Higher degrees may substitute for experience.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance.
• Experience with satellite ground system development, focusing on distributed C2, data processing, or mission planning software.
• Experience with industry-standard ground systems like COSMOS, ECLIPSE, OS/COMET, or OASIS.
• Proven ability to deliver high-reliability software in an agile environment with CI/CD workflows.
• Experience in one or more technology areas such as cloud development (AWS, Lambda, Docker, Kubernetes), web and REST services (Spring, Flask, etc.), front-end development (JavaScript, Angular, React), back-end databases (SQL, NoSQL), or software modeling in Java, C++, or Python.
