Job description

Responsibilities

Engineer II – Civil & Structures will design, review, and support the execution of utility‑scale renewable energy projects. Key activities include coordinating with external engineering firms, issuing plans and specifications, performing engineering calculations, and providing technical guidance to project teams. The role mentors junior engineers, develops best practices, and ensures designs meet project requirements, schedules, and quality standards.

The engineer is responsible for:

  • Ensuring safe engineering designs that comply with company, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Developing designs that satisfy the design life of the power plant while complying with local, state, and international building codes and company best practices.
  • Managing cost‑effective design solutions to achieve the plant’s design life in the most economical manner.
  • Collaborating with company departments, outside vendors, suppliers, and technical firms to explore innovative ideas, materials, equipment, software, and technologies that enhance safety, efficiency, and strategic benefits.
  • Demonstrating team‑oriented professionalism, clear communication with technical and non‑technical stakeholders, and adherence to the National Society of Professional Engineers Code of Conduct.
  • Applying factual evidence and sustainable solutions to efficiently solve problems, supporting multi‑dimensional project demands across structural steel, structural wood, crane rigging, reinforced concrete, foundations, soil and atmospheric corrosion, hydrology, geotechnical, surveying, grading, laser scanning, and GPR studies.
  • Providing project feedback to estimating teams to capture lessons learned.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, or mechanical engineering (or related field) from an EBET‑accredited institution.

At least two years of progressive engineering and/or supervisory experience in heavy civil, industrial, utilities, or power generation industries.

Technical knowledge in structural engineering codes and construction practices.
