A leading engineering firm in Pittsburgh is seeking an Engineer II to perform design and analysis for liquid storage structures, specialty vessels, and foundations. The position requires a BS in Civil or Mechanical Engineering and 2+ years of relevant experience. Responsibilities include engineering design, calculations, and analysis for structures, especially in LNG storage and other liquid storage terminals. Qualifications

• 2+ years related engineering experience required or equivalent educational experience.
• Design experience in API-620, API-650, API-653, ASCE, ACI, NFPA and ASME Section VIII strongly preferred.
• Occasional overtime and travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering design and calculations work for structures in liquid storage terminals for steel and concrete structures.
• Perform engineering design calculations for shallow and deep foundations including pile design.
• Perform analysis work including linear/nonlinear structural loading, vibration, seismic response spectrum analysis, thermal loading.
• Perform design calculations for shallow and deep foundations including pile design, soil-structure interaction, and site-specific seismic analysis.
• Perform analysis including linear/nonlinear loading, vibration, seismic analysis, thermal loading for LNG storage tanks and cryogenic structures.
• Prepare project documents, edit specifications, develop design sketches, etc.
• Evaluate, select and apply standard techniques for conventional projects with few complex features.
• Work on special projects as directed by supervisor.
• Overtime and travel may be required.

Job Summary

The Engineer II is responsible for performing design and analysis work for liquid storage structures, specialty vessels, and foundations using sound engineering principles. Typical applications include LNG storage terminals, low temp storage such as Propane/Butane, Ammonia tanks and liquid hydrogen spheres, above ground storage tanks, spheres, vacuum chambers and clarifiers etc. This role works on individual tasks in a collaborative team of engineers and designers to directly support various field and fabrication offices.

Essential Functions

• Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values."

• Perform engineering design and calculations work for structures in liquid storage terminals for steel and concrete structures and their appurtenances.
• Perform engineering design calculations for shallow and deep foundations including pile design, soil-structure interaction, and site-specific seismic analysis as required.
• Perform analysis work including linear/nonlinear structural loading, vibration, seismic response spectrum analysis, thermal loading, and other analysis as required for LNG storage tanks and other cryogenic/refrigerated structures.
• Prepares portions of project documents, edits specifications, develops design sketches, etc.
• Evaluates, selects and applies standard techniques, procedures and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects with few complex features.
• Work on special projects assigned and directed by supervisor or other Engineers.
• Performs other related duties, as directed

Qualifications

• BS in Civil (Structural)/Mechanical Engineering required; MS degree preferred; PhD highly preferred.
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) preferred
• 2+ years related engineering experience is required or equivalent educational experience.
• Advanced knowledge of strength of materials, mechanics, and structural analysis. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience is preferred.
• Experience in design of steel and concrete structures is preferred
• Working knowledge of MathCAD, AutoCAD, STAAD, and ANSYS is preferred.
• Knowledge of numerical methods of structural analysis preferred.
• Design experience in API-620, API-650, API-653, ASCE, ACI, NFPA and ASME Section VIII is strongly preferred.
• Cooperates with other team members; interacts with individuals at all organizational levels in professional manner.
• Maintains a sense of urgency and a positive attitude.
• Exhibits excellent listening, oral and written skills.
• Demonstrates strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously under time sensitive deadlines.
• Strong PC skills including MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
• Occasional overtime and travel may be required
