Job summary

Andersen Corporation is seeking an experienced engineer to join our Engineered Materials Extrusion team in Bayport, MN. This role leads operations support, equipment upgrades, and new product launches, driving continuous improvement in vinyl extrusion.

  • BS in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
  • 3-5+ years engineering experience with mechanical aptitude.
  • Demonstrated project planning experience and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or support project teams for commercialization and startup of new equipment.
  • Interface with design, product engineering, supply chain on manufacturability.
  • Provide recommendations on design solution viability for processes.
  • Facilitate cross-functional meetings, kaizens, and design events.
  • Create training tools, SOPs, and ensure consistent manufacturability.
  • Support existing applications with operational technical guidance.

This role will play a key part in advancing our manufacturing capabilities by providing daily operations support, leading equipment upgrades, supporting new product launches, and driving continuous improvement within our vinyl extrusion operations.At Andersen, we strive to prioritize work-life balance and foster a positive day-to-day work experience. Join us and be part of a team that is dedicated to driving change, fostering continuous improvement, and shaping the future of manufacturing!PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead and/or support project teams on the successful commercialization and start-up of new fabrication equipment and processes.Interface with design, product engineering, supply chain, and other business partners on the design for manufacturability, process capability of new product or extensions.Provide recommendations regarding the viability of developed design solutions that relate to new or current processes.Facilitate cross-functional team meetings, kaizens, and Process System Design events.Ensure built in quality by using DMAIC tools: Process mapping, process capability, C&E Matrix, fishbone diagram, FMEA, MSA, DOE, Control Plans.Develop specifications to procure production equipment and/or complete production lines.Partner with the Safety Teams to ensure all new or modified processes meet or exceed corporate safety requirements.Create training tools, documents and standard operating procedures for production processes ensuring consistent manufacturability.Introduce new perspectives on existing solutions to continuously improve production and material flow processes.Provide operational technical support for existing applications and processes.QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLSMUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:BS in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or equivalent engineering experience.3-5+ years of engineering experience with mechanical aptitude.Demonstrated project planning experience.Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and influence decision-making.Ability to build strong relationships with cross-functional partners, customers, and suppliers, fostering collaboration and alignment.Knowledge and experience with quality systems, statistical process control, process capability and lean manufacturing tools.2D & 3D CAD ExperienceNICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge of DMAIC analyses and problem-solving approachesExperience with change management strategiesExperience in thermoplastic extrusionProficiency in statistical analysis (such as design of experiments) along with statistical softwarePAY RANGE:$90,039.00 - $139,561.00#LI-JL2PAY RANGE:$90,039.00 - $139,561.00CULTURE AND BENEFITS:At Andersen, we believe our people are at the heart of everything we do.
