Job summary

Larson Engineering, an employee-owned firm in Milwaukee, is seeking an entry-level Engineer I - Structural. You will build foundational engineering skills, apply standard methods, and support project teams under supervision.

You will perform defined portions of assignments, conduct basic analyses, and participate in site visits as needed. This role emphasizes growth, professional ethics, and collaboration with a passionate, patient team.

Qualifications

• FE exam passed or in process.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Structural).
• Ability to follow direction.
• Willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Performs standard computations and analyses.
• May participate in site visits or observe construction activities.
• Submits work to Project Manager for QA/QC and incorporates feedback.

Job description

The Engineer I - Structural is an entry-level position for professional engineering work, focused on developing foundational knowledge and skills. This individual performs assignments that apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria across a sequence of related tasks.

They apply basic judgment in the application of established methods and in selecting among basic engineering alternatives, while building technical capability within the discipline.

The Engineer I - Structural reports to the Department Manager, and is expected to demonstrate an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities and continues to grow in both knowledge and practical application.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs defined portions of broader engineering assignments using established methods and guidance from experienced engineers
• Performs standard computations and analysis
• May participate in site visits or observe construction activities to support project understanding
• Submits work to the Project Manager for QA/QC review and incorporates feedback as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam – or is in the process of obtaining
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Structural)
• Ability to follow direction
• Willingness to learn

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to engineering project work through internships, coursework, or field experience
• Interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
• Strong communication and organizational skills
