Job summary

Larson Engineering seeks an Engineer I - Structural in Appleton, WI. This entry‑level role develops foundational knowledge, applying standard techniques and guiding tasks under experienced engineers.

You will perform basic analyses, assist with site observations, and contribute to project QA/QC as you grow your technical capability. The position reports to the Department Manager and emphasizes professional ethics, ongoing learning, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam – or in the process of obtaining
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Structural)
• Ability to follow direction
• Willingness to learn

Responsibilities

• Performs defined portions of broader engineering assignments using established methods and guidance from experienced engineers
• Performs standard computations and analysis
• May participate in site visits or observe construction activities to support project understanding
• Submits work to the Project Manager for QA/QC review and incorporates feedback as needed
• Other duties as assigned

The Engineer I - Structural is an entry-level position for professional engineering work, focused on developing foundational knowledge and skills. This individual performs assignments that apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria across a sequence of related tasks.

They apply basic judgment in the application of established methods and in selecting among basic engineering alternatives, while building technical capability within the discipline.

The Engineer I - Structural reports to the Department Manager, and is expected to demonstrate an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities and continues to grow in both knowledge and practical application.
