Job summary

Alamar seeks an Engineer I, Instrument Support to maintain and improve the ARGO platform at our Fremont headquarters. You will troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and qualify internal ARGO instruments, while developing SOPs for manufacturing, repair, and maintenance.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure instrument reliability and drive process improvements in a fast-paced biotech environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field; 1+ years of field-based service experience in the biotechnology industry preferred.
  • Troubleshooting and repair of ARGO systems; calibration and preventive maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs for ARGO manufacturing, qualification, repair, and maintenance.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills; ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to lift 50 lbs.
  • Detail-oriented with a methodical approach to troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Own the ARGO refurbishment process, including troubleshooting, repair, and quality control testing of components and sub-modules.
  • Perform quality inspections and testing of spare sub-modules and manufacturer-repaired components.
  • Perform instrument troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, and upgrades for the ARGO platform at Alamar headquarters in Fremont.
  • Perform qualification and calibration of internal ARGO instruments.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve SOPs for ARGO manufacturing, qualification, repair, and maintenance activities.
  • Address internal user requests and accurately document activities in the issue-tracking system.
  • Provide engineering support to the field service team for troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Develop instrument service bulletins for field service use.
  • Support instrument development and improvement efforts including consumable testing and prototyping.

We are seeking an Engineer I, Instrument Support to support the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Alamar’s ARGO platform at our Fremont headquarters. This hands-on role owns instrument troubleshooting, repair, qualification, calibration, preventive maintenance, and upgrades for internal ARGO systems, as well as the ARGO refurbishment process and quality inspection of spare and manufacturer-repaired sub-modules. The role also develops and improves SOPs for ARGO manufacturing, qualification, repair, and maintenance activities. The successful candidate is detail-oriented, works with minimal supervision, and partners with cross-functional teams to ensure instrument reliability, respond promptly to internal users, and drive process improvements in a fast-paced biotechnology environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

The base salary range for this full-time position is $105,000 - $130,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The ranges displayed on each job posting reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries but are subject to change if the leveling of the role is adjusted.
