Job summary
BHE GT&S is seeking an Engineer I/II/Sr/Sr II for our General Office in Bridgeport, WV. The role encompasses lead planning, design, procurement, and construction for pipeline, compression, and civil/structural projects across the BHE GT&S system.
You will provide technical oversight, perform civil/structural evaluations, develop SOPs, mentor engineers, and deliver PE signoff on applicable intrastate projects while tracking budgets and driving continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- ABET-accredited engineering degree required or equivalent.
- Four-year engineering degree with ABET accreditation or equivalent.
- PE license preferred for senior levels.

- Perform civil and structural evaluations, including bridge and pipe analysis.
- Manage mitigation and remediation projects such as landslides and building installations.
- Prepare engineering specifications, drawings, cost estimates, and reports; conduct studies.
- Develop SOPs, review specifications, and provide repair recommendations for existing structures.
- Deliver engineering assistance to internal teams and train engineers.
- Provide PE signoff for applicable intrastate projects.
- Track and forecast project budgets and support continuous improvement initiatives.

BHE GT&S has an exciting opportunity as an Engineer I/II/Sr/Sr II at our General Office building located in Bridgeport, WV.
- Lead planning, design, procurement, and construction activities for pipeline, compression, and civil/structural projects across the BHE GT&S system.
- Provide technical oversight, engineering reviews, and support throughout all project phases.
- Perform civil and structural evaluations, including concrete design verification, bridge and pipe bridge analysis, geotechnical assessments, critical lifts and review of fieldprepared designs.
- Manage mitigation and remediation projects such as landslides, pipe exposures, and building installations.
- Prepare engineering specifications, drawings, cost estimates, and reports; conduct studies and investigations.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, review specifications, and provide recommendations for repairs and assessments of existing structures.
- Deliver engineering assistance to internal teams, including training for engineers.
- Provide PE signoff for applicable intrastate projects.
- Track and forecast project budgets and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- 0-2 years of related engineering experience
- Engineering degree from an accredited college/university, Internship preferred.
- Engineering degree from an accredited college/university and 1-3 years' experience.
- Engineering degree from an accredited college/university and 5 years industry experience. PE license preferred.
- Four-year ABET accredited engineering degree (Engineer)
- Ability to monitor changes in technology with skill in developing, testing and recommending new ideas and strategies for the utilization of those changes.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering schematics, drawings, and technical manuals.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare technical reports, project schedules, and cost estimates.
- Ability to lead, work independently, communicate effectively, and establish rapport.
- Ability to define problems, collect accurate data, draw valid conclusions, and develop solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively operate a personal computer and common software applications.
- Four-year ABET accredited engineering degree (Engineer).
- Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles.
- Skilled in use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines.
- Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead.
- Provide guidance to less experienced engineers.
- Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing).
- Strong personal computer skills.
- Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.
- Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices.
- In depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to manipulate personal computer applications and perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g., Matlab, Excel, etc.).
- Equally effective working independently or in team environment.
- Proven decision-making skills.
- Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.
- Strong planning, organizational and project management skills.
Bachelor
Engineering required.
For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:
- Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
- Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
- Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
- Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
- Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
