Under general supervision of the Land Development Review Administrator, the Engineer I/II performs engineering work related to the review, construction, investigation, development, and design of engineering projects.
Review plans and specifications submitted by developers to assure that they are in compliance with the City development codes and ordinances.
Confer with and advise inspectors of construction projects and conduct inspections of projects during construction. Participate in reaching decisions as to necessary field changes.
Perform investigative and public relations work related to engineering activities.
Present reports to the Planning & Zoning Commission and City Council including preliminary plats, final plats, and other development related submittals.
Engage in engineering research, prepare engineering reports, make computations, and make time and material estimates.
Work on special projects and reports.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering and four (4) to six (6) years of engineering experience or educational equivalent.
Texas Professional Engineer (PE) License, or the ability to obtain by reciprocity within six (6) months of date of hire.
Valid Texas Driver’s License.
Preferred: Experience in municipal government.
Knowledge of industry standard computer programs (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, EPA SWMM, STORMCAD, Kentucky Pipe Network Analysis, Auto CAD, etc.).
Management or supervisory experience.
Public speaking experience.

Drug Screening: Due to the safety and/or security sensitive nature of this position, individuals shall be subject to pre-employment or pre-placement drug and/or controlled substance testing as outlined in City policy.
