Job summary

Eversource is seeking a Gas Distribution Engineer to develop, expand, plan, design, maintain, and operate our gas distribution systems and equipment. Job description

Develop, expand, plan, design, maintain, and operate gas distribution systems and equipment
Coordinate evaluation of system failures and appropriate resolutions for unplanned maintenance
Ensure gas distribution systems meet high-quality, safety, reliability, cost, and environmental standards
Share accountability for the strategy, development, and design of the gas distribution system Life Cycle Plan
Develop tactical plans and implement strategic plans to reduce risk and improve assigned asset condition
Participate in integrity management programs and data quality control reviews
Analyze data and develop reports and innovative risk-reduction solutions
Track and analyze engineering and project costs and risk profiles
Implement and monitor gas compliance programs, including corrosion control and leak surveys
Coordinate with risk and safety groups, including Enterprise Risk Management and Pipeline Safety Management System
Provide regulatory and legislative support, including answering interrogatories and providing witness testimony
Participate in incident investigations, root-cause analyses, after-action reviews, and mitigation planning
Support annual capital budgets and five-year long-range plans
Coordinate resources and provide direction or assistance on processes and projects
Respond to emergency situations outside normal responsibilities, work hours, and location when assigned

Requirements
  • Requires a BS Engineering or BS Engineering Technology
  • Minimum of three years relevant experience
  • Gas industry experience a plus
  • Theoretical and conceptual knowledge of the gas distribution engineering discipline
  • Understanding of Company structure and business practices
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention-to-detail
  • Working knowledge of standard office computer software, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignments as required
  • Must be available to travel between Massachusetts and Connecticut as necessary
  • Occasional to significant travel by car may be required
  • A valid driver’s license is required
  • Safety Sensitive position subject to random drug testing
