Job summary

Steptoe LLP is seeking an experienced Financial Systems Administrator to manage and enhance the firm’s financial systems portfolio. You will partner with Accounting and Finance to ensure system stability, data integrity, and effective reporting across Power BI, SSRS, and related platforms.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years supporting Elite 3E and related legal financial systems.
  • Experience supporting Intapp applications (Open, Time) and Integration Builder in a law firm environment.
  • Strong SQL development and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience developing reports using SSRS, Power BI, or similar reporting platforms.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot application, data, and reporting issues.
  • Experience working directly with software vendors and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Support the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the firm's existing financial systems.
  • Coordinate maintenance and updates for all financial databases and application servers.
  • Participate in implementation of new financial solutions and upgrades; coordinate testing efforts; provide feedback to developers; enable user acceptance.
  • Design, develop, and support operational and executive reporting solutions using Power BI, SSRS, SQL, and related reporting technologies.
  • Perform monthly and yearly financial system close processes.
  • Ensure data accuracy, governance, and usability across financial platforms; monitor databases for integrity and correct errors.
  • Support and troubleshoot integrations between financial, practice management, records, conflicts, timekeeping, collections, and reporting platforms.
  • Coordinate with vendors on support escalations, issue resolution, enhancement requests, software upgrades, and product planning.
  • Analyze current business processes, recommend improvements, and support change control and communication.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through automation, workflow enhancements, and new technologies.
  • Create and maintain system documentation, procedures, and training materials for knowledge transfer and continuity.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies to improve firm operations and reduce manual processes.

Job description

Provide administration, support, configuration, and continuous improvement of the firm's financial and business applications. Serve as a technical resource for the firm's financial systems portfolio, partnering with Accounting and Finance as primary stakeholders while providing application support firmwide under the direction of the Sr. Manager, Financial Systems. Ensure system stability, data integrity, effective integrations, operational reporting, and the successful delivery of enhancements that support firmwide business processes.

Essential Functions
  • Support the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the firm's existing financial systems.
  • Ensure timely resolution of application issues and service requests while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction; track and maintain issues list and follow-up regularly for successful resolution or acceptable workaround.
  • Coordinate maintenance and updates for all financial databases and application servers.
  • Participate in implementation of new financial solutions and upgrades; coordinate testing efforts for customizations; provide feedback to developers; follow through to user acceptance.
  • Design, develop, and support operational and executive reporting solutions using Power BI, SSRS, SQL, and related reporting technologies.
  • Perform monthly and yearly financial system close processes.
  • Manage the soft-cost upload process, resolve related issues, and evaluate current manual procedures for automation opportunities.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, governance, and usability across financial platforms; monitor financial databases for integrity problems and correct errors as necessary independently or with vendors; implement and monitor proactive alerts for system issues.
  • Support and troubleshoot integrations between financial, practice management, records, conflicts, timekeeping, collections, and reporting platforms.
  • Coordinate with vendors on support escalations, issue resolution, enhancement requests, software upgrades, and related product planning activities.
  • Analyze current business processes, make recommendations for improvements, and support system change control and related communication.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through workflow automation, system enhancements, process optimization, and adoption of new technologies.
  • Create and maintain system documentation, operational procedures, support runbooks, knowledge articles, and training materials to ensure effective knowledge transfer and business continuity.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, application enhancements, and integration opportunities to improve firm operations and reduce manual processes.

Minimum Qualification
Required
  • 3+ years supporting Elite 3E and related legal financial systems, preferably in a Law firm or other large professional services environment.
  • Experience supporting Intapp applications (Open, Time) and Integration Builder in a law firm environment.
  • Strong SQL development and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience developing reports using SSRS, Power BI, or similar reporting platforms.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot application, data, and reporting issues.
  • Experience working directly with software vendors and business stakeholders.
Preferred
  • Degree in Related Field
  • Experience with BigHand BI, BigHand Forecasting & Budgeting, and Data Insights.
  • Experience with Nth Degree paperless platform and ODDR collections platform.
  • Experience with Intapp applications (Walls, Terms)
  • Experience with Emburse
  • Experience supporting financial system integrations.
  • Experience with Elite 3E upgrades and implementations.
  • Experience supporting cloud-based legal and financial applications.
  • Experience with application migrations, upgrades, and platform modernization initiatives.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $100,000. The actual base salary offered will be dependent upon the applicant's experience and qualifications, as well as other job-related factors, including but not limited to, relevant skills, education, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, geographic location.
