Job summary

Complete Building Services (CBS) is seeking a DC 3rd Class Engineer in Washington, DC. The role focuses on operating and maintaining MEP systems in facilities, with shift hours from 3 pm to 11 pm, Tuesday through Saturday.

A stationary engineer's license and extensive steam plant experience are required. The engineer will monitor systems, perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure regulatory compliance while using BAS, CMMS, and BMS tools.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid stationary engineer's license equivalent to Class 3 Steam Engineer (DC).
• Minimum five years of steam plant operations experience.
• Experience with computerized monitoring systems and automated control technologies.
• Strong knowledge of DC regulatory requirements for steam systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform tours and daily watches to monitor safe system operations.
• Operate installed equipment to maintain set temperatures and humidity levels; monitor BAS displays and alarms.
• Install, service and maintain MEP systems including preventive maintenance and repairs.
• Maintain records and report on system performance and issues.

Responsibilities

The DC 3rd Class Engineer will have comprehensive knowledge of MEP systems and mission critical operating characteristics to support full building operations. On each shift, Engineers perform tours and daily watches to monitor safe system operations and maintain systems at peak performance.

• Engineers will apply their knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipe-fitting, and plant operations to install, service, and maintain MEP systems, including preventive maintenance and service call repair

Shift: 3 pm-11 pm (Tuesday-Saturday)

Salary: $52.66 per hour

Qualifications

The DC 3rd Class Engineer shall possess the following minimum qualifications:

• Must possess a valid stationary engineer's license equivalent to Class 3 Steam Engineer (DC)
• Advanced plumbing repairs: Demonstrated expertise in identifying, diagnosing and repairing leaks, damaged piping, defective valves, fittings, and plumbing fixtures
• Mechanical piping system: Working knowlwdge of domestic water, sanitary drainage, hydronic heating, chilled water, condenser water, and associated mechanical piping systems
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in steam plant operations
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in steam plant operations, chemical analysis, and troubleshooting
• Experience with computerized monitoring systems and automated control technologies
• Strong knowledge of DC regulatory requirements for steam systems.
• Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs for industrial equipmen t.
• Technical expertise in steam generation, condensate recovery, and cooling system operations.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for troubleshooting plant issues.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems), and
• BMS (Building Management Systems).
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for record-keeping and reporting.
• Ability to prioritize and execute tasks with minimal supervision.
