Job summary

IHG Hotels & Resorts is seeking a maintenance/engineer role responsible for cleaning, repairing, and maintaining hotel facilities. Duties include guestroom repairs, lighting, HVAC-related tasks, and preventive maintenance while ensuring safety and compliance.

Responsibilities include coordinating with the Chief Engineer, maintaining equipment rooms, and attending training sessions. A high school diploma and basic math are required, with some college or technical training desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs in guestrooms and public spaces.
  • Change light bulbs and electrical fittings; minor shop repairs.
  • Assist boiler operator and monitor boiler watch after training.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and PPE compliance.
  • Prepare the lamp storage and maintain equipment areas.
  • Follow hotel policies and safety procedures; report progress to supervisor.

Job description

RELATIONSHIPS
  • Chief Engineer, Plant Supervisor, all Department Heads, and employees.
  • Hotel guests/visitors, clients, contractors, and vendors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with trade mechanics as required to assist in their duties to ensure a safe, clean and well maintained hotel - with repairs and maintenance on guestrooms, caulk bathrooms, cleaning cooling towers, replacing burned out lights. Perform minor shop repairs, small electric repairs (switches and outlet replacements). Provide and plug in extension cords. Clamp on lights for exhibit set ups, occasional painting and wall covering repair.
  • Complete daily calls logged from HOTSOS.
  • Work assignment from Chief Engineer.
  • Maintain lamp storage room.
  • Maintain, repair and clean mechanical areas/equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance.
  • Change filters on air handling equipment.
  • Clean and paint various areas throughout the hotel, as assigned.
  • Clean Culinary diffuser, return air registers and toilet exhaust where not accessible from a 6 foot ladder.
  • Set up/breakdown of equipment needed to perform job function.
  • Assist with boiler operator as needed and stand boiler watch upon receiving proper training.
  • Maintain complete knowledge and comply with hotel policies and departmental policies and procedures for the safe and efficient operation of the hotel facilities.
  • Compliance with OSHA, Lock out-Lag out, city codes and hotel standards
  • Check with Supervisors or Chief Eng. for the Daily Assignments
  • Follow Protocol for Entering a Guest Room
  • Follow established trade practices in handling assignments
  • Always follow safe work practices
  • Advice Supervisor of progress or problems related to the assignment, especially if work not going according to schedule
  • Maintain par inventory of materials & supplies needed for tasks and/or project
  • Advice Supervisor before stock runs out
  • Attend Engineering Team Briefing towards end of shift
  • Attends meetings and hotel training sessions as required by hotel management.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school graduate.
  • Ability to clearly communicate with proper grammar in English with guest/visitor and hotel personnel to their understanding.
  • Ability to provide legible communication.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical functions.
  • Some formal technical school training.
Desirable
  • Some college education/technical training.
  • Previous hotel experience.
  • Boiler operation training.

The salary range for this role is $17.70 to $18.80

This is the lowest to highest pay scale we, in good faith, believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.
