Job summary

Triumph Systems, Electronics and Controls in West Hartford, CT, seeks a Mechanical Product Support Engineer to provide operations engineering support across new product development, manufacturing, supply chain, and test. You will be the technical expert for assigned product lines and will drive reliability improvements.

The role requires strong problem-solving, technical writing, and cross-functional collaboration, with opportunities for growth within Triumph's engineering organization.

Qualifications

  • BSME or equivalent aerospace degree required.
  • 7+ years mechanical experience in design, development, manufacturing or assembly.
  • Ability to read/interpet design drawings with GD&T.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting of fluid handling/hydraulic systems.
  • Experience with aerospace fuel pumps, metering units, and engine controls preferred.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate aircraft program technical support and resolve in-service problems.
  • Represent Triumph at airlines, OEMs, and MRO customers.
  • Foster relationships with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
  • Review and disposition non-conforming material.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose anomalous units; conduct root-cause investigations.
  • Coordinate resolution of in-service product problems and drive reliability improvements.
  • Prepare cost estimates and respond to RFQs.
  • Prepare and present technical materials to internal teams and customers.
  • Support design, development, and validation activities.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and lean initiatives.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers.

Based in West Hartford, CT, Triumph Systems, Electronics and Controls is a leading independent aerospace system supplier for the commercial and military helicopter and business jet markets and employs approximately 500 employees. The Company’s key products and services include electronic engine controls, fuel metering units, main fuel pumps and environmental control systems for both the OE and aftermarket/spares end markets.

Salary Range: $91,100.00 - 136,700.00/annual - based on experience

We have an exciting opportunity for a mechanical Product Support Engineer (PSE) to join our West Hartford, CT team. The PSE provides operations engineering support to various areas of the business from new product design/development to manufacturing, supply chain, and assembly/test. The PSE will be a technical expert for assigned product lines and will direct and support relevant engineering activities.

This position comes with a considerable amount of 1-on-1 and team interaction, and requires the ability to interface with customers, suppliers, and associates at all levels of the organization. Responsibilities
  • Coordinate specific aircraft program technical support activities including resolution of technical problems with in-service hydromechanical products.
  • Represent Triumph technically at airline and aircraft OEM as well as MRO customers.
  • Foster good working relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal departments.
  • Review and disposition non-conforming material.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose anomalous units and conduct root cause investigations.
  • Coordinate the resolution of in-service product technical problems and execute reliability improvements through concept development, design, and validation in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate cost estimates and respond to requests for quotation (design and/or requirements changes, product repair and upgrade, obsolescence, etc.).
  • Prepare for and present technical materials internally and to the customer.
  • Be cognizant of project scheduling and budgeting processes, and an understanding of project performance indices (EV, SPI, CPI, etc.).
  • Preparation of component specifications, test plans, and test reports. Lead and provide oversight of various test activities (design assurance, validation, qualification, etc.).
  • Identify, report, and drive resolution to issues that affect product integrity including safety.
  • Coordinate development of Component Maintenance Manuals, Service Bulletins, Service Letters, and Product Deviations Authorizations. Maintain field reliability data for assigned products.
  • Prepare and conduct product maintenance and overhaul training.
  • Provide technical support to suppliers, manufacturing, assembly/test, and MRO service centers.
  • Actively participate in new program design/development activities.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, productivity, and lean manufacturing events.
  • Train, mentor, and develop less experienced engineers and colleagues.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of BSME, or equivalent technical/aerospace degree is required.
  • A minimum of 7 years mechanical and/or relevant experience in related field. Experience in design, development, manufacturing, and assembly, a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret design drawings with a good understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting and fault isolation skillset (scientific method), particularly with fluid handling and/or hydraulic control systems equipment. Experience with aerospace fuel pumps, fuel metering units, and engine control systems preferred. Experience diagnosing root causes of failures, a plus.
  • Experience dispositioning of discrepant flight critical safety components.
  • Self-motivated, dynamic, able to work independently with minimal guidance, and as part of a team.
  • Project management experience, a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task, execute cross-functional activities, and drive project milestones to completion, on time.
  • Must have excellent communication skills with a strong background of technical writing experience.
  • Strong MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Outlook) skills are required.
  • The ability and willingness to occasionally travel.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
