Comcast is seeking a software engineer to lead design and development of software and web applications in an Agile environment. You will work across C, C++, Python, Perl, and Shell on Linux, utilizing RDK-B and RDK-C reference designs and Telemetry 2.0 data formats.
The role involves collaboration with stakeholders, mentoring junior engineers, and documenting technical work, with remote work options one or more days per week in accordance with company policy.
DUTIES: Provide technical leadership in designing and developing software and web applications in an Agile development environment using C, C++, Python, Perl, and Shell; work with Linux OS; use reference design kit, including RDK-B and RDK-C; use JSON and XML for Telemetry 2.0, Webpa, Upnp, TR-069; work with cable telecommunication standards including DOCSIS and SCTE standards; use Wi-Fi technologies, including Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 7, and 802.11 k/v/b/e; support applications under development and customize current applications; assist with the software update process for existing applications, and roll-outs of software releases; analyze, test, and assist with the integration of new applications; document all development activity; research, write, and edit documentation and technical requirements, including software designs, evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, and formal recommendations and reports; monitor and evaluate competitive applications and products; review literature, patents, and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects; collaborate with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements; conduct analysis to determine integration needs; work with the Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements; and guide and mentor junior-level engineers. Position is eligible to work remotely one or more days per week, per company policy.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, and five (5) years of experience designing and developing software and web applications in an Agile development environment using C, C++, Python, Perl, and Shell; working with Linux OS; of which four (4) years include using reference design kit, including RDK-B and RDK-C; of which three (3) years includes using JSON and XML for Telemetry 2.0, Webpa, Upnp, TR-069; working with cable telecommunication standards including DOCSIS and SCTE standards; and using Wi-Fi technologies, including Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 7, and 802.11 k/v/b/e.
