Job summary

FreeWheel, a Comcast company, seeks an experienced software engineer in Reston, VA to design and implement scalable software platforms. You will analyze system requirements, customize applications, and contribute to software updates while mentoring junior engineers.

You will work with Go or Python, Kubernetes, AWS, and CI/CD tooling, participate in QA, and help train users. A Bachelor's degree and 5–7 years of relevant experience are required.

  • Assisting with the software update process and roll-outs of software releases

Job Summary

This job involves collaborative design and development of software solutions that meet business objectives. It includes system requirement analysis, application customization, and assisting with software updates. It also involves mentoring junior engineers, ensuring quality with Quality Assurance, and providing technical leadership on routine projects. The job is also responsible for conducting training for application users.

Job Description
  • 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Platform Engineering related fields
  • Experience with at least one programming language such as Go, Python
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications.
  • Experience working with public cloud platforms such as AWS, OCI
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins,Argo CD.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, and GitOps practices
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred
  • Experience operating production Kubernetes environments
  • Experience with EKS, OKE, or other managed Kubernetes services
  • Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry
  • Experience building internal developer platforms or self-service tooling.
Responsibilities

  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.

Salary

Virginia Pay Range: $120,212.52 - $180,318.78

Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience. The application window is 30 days from the date job is posted, unless the number of applicants requires it to close sooner or later.

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Comcast provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a Commission under the terms of an applicable plan, while most non-sales positions are eligible for a Bonus.
