Job summary

Mass General Brigham at Cooley Dickinson Hospital, Inc. seeks a qualified Boiler Operator to maintain and repair high‑pressure heating equipment, monitor plant operation, and respond to emergencies during the night shift.

The position requires a high school diploma, engineering trade diploma, 3rd Class Engineer certification, and 2–3 years of engineering experience, with strong troubleshooting, math, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma in Engineering required.
• Massachusetts Department of Fire Service 3rd Class Engineer required.
• Massachusetts Department of Public Safety and Inspections Division Hoisting Engineer preferred.
• Engineering experience 2-3 years required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, operate, repair and clean high-pressure heating plant equipment.
• Observe the operation of the plant and make necessary adjustments.
• Respond to emergencies and equipment breakdown.
• Read meters and gauges at specified intervals to insure proper temperature, pressure, water levels, etc.
• Keep power plant logs by recording readings, steam and power generated, fuel usage, maintenance performed and similar data to keep accurate records.
• Responsible for testing boiler water and returns.
• Add chemicals when necessary for proper mix to insure correct balance.

Job Summary

Responsible for the operation and maintenance of a high-pressure heating plant. Performs repairs to boilers and reassembles if required. Repairs pipes, paints and removes equipment for repair or replacement, as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required

• Massachusetts Department of Fire Service 3rd Class Engineer required
