Job summary

Southern California Edison (SCE) is seeking an Engineer 1, Energy Efficiency to support the portfolio of Energy Efficiency programs and to help operationalize project requirements, measure packages, and data handling for multi-million-dollar initiatives.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, revise measure packages, and contribute to safety and incident management duties while working in a hybrid setup in California.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a scientific/technical/math field.
• Experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
• Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.
• FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) / EIT designation.
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
• Experience with data analysis and automation tools (Power Query, Power Automate, Alteryx, Python, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Snowflake).
• Basic programming or scripting experience in Python, SQL, VBA or similar technologies.
• Experience creating dashboards, reports or data visualizations using Power BI, Tableau or Excel.

Responsibilities

• Maintains records and documentation on engineering procedures and preventative/demand maintenance.
• Assists with engineering projects to investigate, evaluate and produce cost-effective designs and solutions.

• Assists with RCA/ACA and investigations to troubleshoot problems and implement changes.
• Observes safety policies and ensures safety standards are met.

Join the Clean Energy Revolution Become an Engineer 1, Energy Efficiency at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll support SCE’s portfolio of Energy Efficiency (EE) programs. These programs have multi-million-dollar budgets and incentivize to adopt energy efficient measures (e.g., heat pumps) or behaviors to deliver energy savings. Within these programs, a set of EE projects, known as Deemed projects, require the creation of the measure package that optimizes the installation process and sets the energy savings, which is then used to calculate savings in all future projects involving that measure. You will play a critical role as key support for senior engineers, completing key tasks such as revising measure packages based on feedback, operationalizing requirements, and providing oversight over data and installation procedures. You will have accountability and ownership over discretely defined deliverables and need strong cross-functional collaboration skills, proficient technical capabilities in workpaper writing, and a desire to learn business sense to operationalize requirements.

Incident Management Team Expected Participation: Employees are expected to support emergency response and/or business continuity efforts, including readiness to serve on an Incident Management Team (IMT) when needed. Employees will participate in an on-call rotation (approximately every four to six weeks), to support IMT activations during emergency events. IMT assignments may differ from an individual’s regular responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepares technical engineering evaluations and supports the inspections of equipment and operations. Assists in the review and applications of new technologies to improve quality of service to customers.
• Maintains records and documentation on relevant engineering procedures and preventative/ demand
• Maintenance.
• Assists with engineering projects using existing procedures to investigate, evaluate and assist in producing technically correct and cost-effective designs and solutions.
• Supports the document lifecycle within assigned projects according to defined organizational processes.
• Provides operational support to improve customer satisfaction and reliability performance; monitors the trending of electrical system health.
• Assists with Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Apparent Cause Analysis (ACA), and miscellaneous investigations to troubleshoot problems, making changes to correct them.
• Observes all safety policies during the execution of required tasks and ensures safety standards are met, and safe working practices are adhered to.
• A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in a scientific/technical/math field.
• Experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
• Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

• FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) / EIT (Engineering in Training) designation
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

Additional Information

• This position’s work mode ishybrid.The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
