Job summary

Cullerton Group in Mossville, Illinois is seeking a Dev/Research Engineer 2 for a 24-month, onsite role focused on engine test preparation, data acquisition, and troubleshooting. You will collaborate with test-cell operators, facility teams, and engineers to meet test objectives and document issues efficiently.

The position emphasizes hands-on work with large engines, blueprints, and instrumentation, requiring a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering and 2–4 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• 2–4 years of engineering experience; internship may be considered.
• Hands-on with mechanical/electrical test setups and data-acquisition equipment.
• Experience with large diesel engines testing or data analysis.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret specs/drawings.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
• Onsite in Mossville, IL, 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
• Able to satisfy export-control requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support, direct, and mentor test-cell operators during engine testing.
• Prepare engine and test-cell configurations per test plans.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, engine, instrumentation issues.
• Coordinate with facilities, instrumentation, mechanics, and other teams.
• Document engine hardware, test-cell, and equipment issues.
• Review upcoming test plans with senior engineers and prepare equipment.
• Participate in daily stand-up and shift handoff meetings.
• Communicate progress, troubleshooting findings, action plans, and results to the team.
• Research, develop, manufacture, and test mechanical tools, engines, machines, and devices.
• Review specs, manuals, drawings, and design proposals for feasibility.
