We are the world’s top supplier of automotive test facilities, providing a full range of services to commercial automotive industry customers. We are hiring an Engine Test Technician to work at the Engine Dyno lab in Dearborn, MI.
Responsibilities
- Conduct a wide variety of non‑procedural gasoline and diesel engine dynamometer testing.
- Support development, durability and performance testing in an engine dynamometer facility.
- Collect, review and validate data for accuracy and completeness and make recommendations to engineering.
- Fabricate basic fixtures as needed.
- Interface with Technologists, Product Engineers and Supervisors on updates/new test procedures, equipment and methods.
- Verify the calibration and maintenance of test equipment and test systems.
- Install engines on the dynamometer, hook up instrumentation, diagnose and troubleshoot problems, conduct tests, change engine parts if necessary, and remove engine and instrumentation.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- Good interpersonal, computer, oral and written skills.
- Knowledge of engines and powertrain.
- Desired: Working towards an Associate’s Degree in Automotive Technology or related field, or equivalent testing experience in gasoline and diesel engine testing.
- Experience in engine/powertrain dynamometer testing or other similar testing techniques preferred.
Essential Functions
- Physical requirements: able to lift 50 lbs for engine parts, standing and sitting for about 50% of the shift, bending and stooping as needed.
- Must wear safety glasses, slip‑resistant shoes, gloves, long pants and short‑sleeve shirts.
- Exposure to engine noise (up to 120dB) while the dynamometer is running.
- Work inside a dynamometer chamber with hot temperatures during engine operation and cold temperatures (down to –20°F) during cold‑start tests.
- Use basic hand tools (hammer, screwdriver, wrenches, ratchets, sockets) and occasional forklift operations.
- Shift: Day shift 7:00AM–3:30PM, 8 hours per day Monday‑Friday. Flexibility to cover weekend testing is required.
