Caterpillar Inc. is hiring Assembly Technicians for the Large Power Systems Division in Lafayette, IN. You will assemble diesel and natural gas engines, perform sub-assembly work, and prepare engines for testing, painting, and shipping.

Roles include 2nd and 3rd shifts with a $23.33/hour base plus a 6% shift differential. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is offered. Candidates must pass interviews, assessments, background checks, and drug screening.

Qualifications

• Two years of professional job-related experience in auto/diesel/farm maintenance
• Two years of commercial construction (maintenance and/or repair)
• 2 months of experience through the Lafayette Large Engine facility staffing agency
• 6 months experience Caterpillar Logistics (must have kitting/subbing) experience
• Two years’ manufacturing experience
• Technical degree in diesel engine, automotive, electrical, electronics, or agricultural/construction equipment technology

Responsibilities

• Assembly of large diesel and natural gas engines
• Work includes the use of various hand tools and equipment
• Manipulating engine components during the assembly process
• Learning the technical aspects of engine assembly, including troubleshooting and repair of in-process engines
• Support of safety, quality, and production goals of the area
• Utilizing computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
• Reading and interpreting standard work in computer programs, engineering prints and factory paperwork
