Job summary

Massachusetts Bay Community College seeks qualified part-time instructors to teach in-person Introductory and Intermediate Spanish language courses on the Wellesley and Framingham campuses.

The ideal candidate will deliver learner-centered instruction, develop syllabi, assess student learning, and communicate promptly with students and college staff. A Master’s degree in Spanish or related field and fluency in Spanish are required, with CC experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Spanish language, second language acquisition, linguistics, education, or related field.
  • Fluency in foreign language.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and experience teaching of foreign cultures.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Community College experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
  • Demonstrated ability to use a variety of teaching and assessment strategies to promote and evaluate student learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to use information technology effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare syllabi and develop curricula to address course/program requirements and student learning outcomes to meet graduation competencies as appropriate.
  • Use appropriate assessment methods consistently and regularly to measure student understanding.
  • Maintain excellent communication with students, department and division staff throughout the semester.
  • Engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence in teaching and learning.
  • Submit midterm and final grade reports, attendance records, early alerts, and other reports pertaining to assigned courses by required due dates.
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Dean consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Position Summary:

The idealcandidate will join a vibrant educational community and have a desire andability to serve a population of students with various needs and backgrounds.The candidate is expected to commit toexcellence in teaching and learning, collaboration and professionaldevelopment. Adjunct faculty areexpected to deliver course materials in a learner-centered environment conductiveto engaging students in the learning process. The faculty member in thisposition communicates consistently and effectively with students, faculty andadministrators, and responds to communications within a 24 hour period.The faculty is responsible for managing this course through timely grading ofassignments, providing substantial student feedback with assignments, andsubmission of clinical evaluations, attendance and grades.

Minimum Qualifications:

Additional Information:

Salary Range: $1,512- $1,715 per DCE Credit

Faculty

Hiring is subject to state appropriation funding.

Final candidates are required to provide sealed transcripts and/or certifications.

Hiring is contingent upon a successful CORI clearance.
