Job summary

LanguageBird is seeking passionate American Sign Language instructors to join our remote team for the 2026-27 school year. We offer online ASL courses for middle and high school, with ACTFL-aligned, textbook-free curricula and project-based learning.

Teach one-on-one lessons via Microsoft Teams, give timely feedback, monitor progress, and communicate professionally with students and families. This contract role requires independence, strong organization, and evening availability in US time zones.

Qualifications

• 1–2+ years of experience teaching American Sign Language (online and/or in a school setting).
• Native‑like proficiency in American Sign Language.
• Experience working with middle school and/or high school students preferred.
• Familiarity with educational technology and Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting deadlines and expectations.
• Evening availability in U.S. time zones (PST preferred).
• Bachelor's degree required.

Responsibilities

• Teach engaging one‑on‑one online lessons using Microsoft Teams.
• Create a supportive and personalized learning environment that promotes student engagement, confidence, and success.
• Assign and provide timely feedback on class performance, homework assignments, and projects.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate grades and academic records.
• Communicate professionally and proactively with students, families, and LanguageBird staff as needed.
• Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and respect in all interactions.
• Participate in required training.
