Job summary

Illinois Virtual Schools & Academy seeks an American Sign Language Virtual Instructor – Adjunct with daytime availability to begin August 2026. This part-time, remote role requires an Illinois teaching license and a commitment to online K-12 ASL education.

You will deliver live lessons, configure courses in the LMS, and align materials to standards while differentiating instruction and maintaining comprehensive student records. Strong communication with families and staff is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
• Current Illinois teaching license in relevant content areas and grade bands (PEL).
• Strong content knowledge in American Sign Language and ability to analyze student data.
• Online teaching experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as teacher of record for American Sign Language courses.
• Set up courses in the Learning Management System.
• Deliver LIVE online lessons to partner schools via web conferencing.
• Align and develop course materials to meet standards and differentiate instruction.
• Maintain records including grade books, progress reports, attendance and discipline.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff and administration.
