Job summary

Oakland Leaf is seeking a Middle School Program Instructor to lead engaging, youth-centered activities for 6th–8th graders at the Oakland site. You will foster social-emotional growth, build authentic relationships with each student, and contribute to a warm, inclusive program culture that supports every learner.

This role focuses on activity facilitation, classroom safety, and collaboration with the Site Coordinator.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience working with youth in programs.
• Must pass a background check in accordance with California law.
• Experience with middle school youth strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate engaging, developmentally appropriate activities for 6th–8th graders.
• Build authentic relationships with students and support social-emotional growth.
• Maintain active supervision and ensure student safety during program hours.
• Collaborate with Site Coordinator/Manager and contribute to a positive site culture.
• Deliver curriculum and adapt activities to student engagement and needs.
• Assist with transitions, space setup, and daily program operations.
