Job summary

The Orange County Public Schools system seeks a paraprofessional to assist in the education, care, and development of students with severe disabilities. Under supervision, you will support instructional and behavioral goals, help with daily living activities, and monitor student progress under the direction of a certified teacher or administrator.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher, or at least sixty (60) semester hours.
• Passing the paraprofessional certification exam can substitute for the educational requirement to meet the highly qualified status.
• Two years of experience with exceptional needs school-age children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responds to internal and external customers in a timely, accurate, courteous and empathetic manner representing OCPS.
• Provides instructional, behavioral and developmental assistance to students with severe disabilities as directed by supervising staff.
• Assists with behavior interventions and monitoring of student behaviors.
• Assists the teacher in development of lesson plans and data collection for progress monitoring and IEPs.

Education
