Job summary

American International Group (AIG) is offering a Summer Intern position in the Energy Underwriting group in New York. You will participate in day-to-day risk evaluation, support underwriting submissions, and work with a global team to deliver tailored energy insurance solutions.

The program runs 9 weeks, with on-site collaboration and mentorship, preparing you for a potential Analyst role after completion of the internship in 2028. This is an in-office program in NYC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree to be received no later than June 2028 (unofficial transcript required upon application).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in a professional environment.
• Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate effectively, manage multiple priorities, and adapt in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the evaluation and underwriting of risks across traditional and renewable energy, power generation, mining, petrochemicals, and related industries.
• Review underwriting submissions, operational information, financial data, and loss history to support risk selection, pricing, and coverage decisions.
• Collaborate with underwriters, risk engineers, claims professionals, and multinational specialists to develop tailored insurance solutions.
• Build relationships with brokers and clients while supporting new business and renewal opportunities.
• Monitor industry, regulatory, and emerging risk trends that may impact clients and underwriting decisions.
• Develop technical knowledge of energy insurance while building analytical, decision-making, and relationship-management skills.
