Job summary

Day & Zimmermann seeks an Energy and Sustainability Summer Intern to join the Mason & Hanger team in Glen Allen, VA for Summer 2026. You will assist in energy and water simulations, utility analyses, LEED template credits, and cost estimates, with emphasis on Excel and modeling tools such as Revit.

The role requires current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field, strong communication, initiative, and the ability to comply with data

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or related field.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.
• Willingness to complete background and drug screening as required.
• U.S. citizenship is required for contract work.
• Proactive, motivated, and able to adapt to evolving project needs.

Responsibilities

• Energy, water, and power simulations under supervision of engineers.
• Engineering calculations using Microsoft Excel.
• Complete LEED credit compliance templates.
• Assist in cost estimate preparation and general research.
• Maintain data protection and security practices for sensitive information.
