Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Lean Engineer to support Battery Energy Storage project teams with Mortenson’s kaizen-based continuous improvement approach, 5S, and Flow Construction. The role is 50% remote and 50% travel, enabling collaboration across sites and with field teams to improve safety and efficiency.

The candidate will partner with project leadership, facilitate improvement events, and promote standard work and continuous improvement practices on site while supporting daily planning and flow

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of continuous improvement principles and their application.
• Excellent reliability and follow-through on commitments.
• Effective trainer and facilitator with strong communication.
• Ability to influence through relationship building.
• Willingness to travel up to 75%.

Responsibilities

• Partner with project leadership to establish trust and gain buy-in for lean approaches.
• Provide regular feedback on lean methods and cross-project sharing.
• Support continuous improvement onsite and coordinate improvement events.
• Reinforce 5S standards and apply flow construction to projects.
• Assist forepersons in daily planning, work management, and learning approaches.
• Promote one-piece flow and reduce batching in self-perform work.
• Collaborate with trade partners and project teams to implement improvements.
