This is a remote position; however, applicants must reside in and be able to legally work in the United States.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking an experienced Energy Storage Engineer to lead and execute tasks supporting client needs and advancing CEA’s energy storage services. The role involves working directly with clients, including major renewable energy companies, providing technical assessments, project evaluations, and quality control for energy storage systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in energy storage technologies, especially lithium-ion batteries, and be capable of managing multiple projects while engaging clients and teams.

Responsibilities:

1. Serve as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) on battery technology and energy storage system design and performance.
2. Conduct independent engineering reviews of energy storage projects, including system designs and technical specifications.
3. Develop and review technical proposals, including scope, deliverables, timelines, and budgets.
4. Perform technical due diligence on energy storage systems, components, and configurations.
5. Lead onsite quality control audits of materials, equipment, and processes.
6. Assess contractual agreements to identify potential risks.
7. Develop technical reports on hardware/software, system design, and performance.
8. Maintain relationships with equipment suppliers and stay updated on industry advancements.
9. Support development of technical content like white papers and webinars.
10. Collaborate across teams to manage multiple projects efficiently.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
2. At least 2 years of experience in energy storage system design, performance analysis, and modeling for large systems, or 3+ years with lithium-ion batteries.
3. Understanding of electrochemistry and performance metrics such as efficiency, degradation, and state of charge.
4. Ability to perform detailed technical due diligence and generate industry-leading reports.
5. Excellent project management and organizational skills; PMP certification is a plus.
6. Effective communication skills for client and stakeholder engagement.
7. Willingness to travel up to 25% for site visits, including outdoor work in various environments.
