Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Commissioning Manager I in the Energy Storage group to lead project commissioning, contract administration, and large, complex assignments with independent judgment. The role emphasizes planning, execution, and collaboration across disciplines, with significant travel to project sites.

Location is across the US with 50% remote work and 50% travel. Strong technical reviews, planning, and leadership are essential for successful handover and turnover.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 10 years field experience as stated.
• Minimum six years of construction management or commissioning experience.
• Strong communication and client-relations skills.
• Understanding of design, construction, start-up, commissioning, and turnover processes.
• Familiarity with QA/QC documents and related processes.
• Knowledge of PPA, testing and turnover requirements.
• Ability to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Perform scope reviews and provide detailed comments.
• Develop commissioning specs and plans, checklists, and tests.
• Lead field visits and provide technical guidance.
• Direct field performance tests and schedule commissioning.
• Draft technical documents for issue resolutions and reports.
• Conduct training sessions and coordinate across disciplines.
• Collaborate with scope team and PM to verify scope intent.
• Lead system tests including NETA, SCADA, controls, and ops verification.
