Job summary

American Power & Gas in Florida is seeking an Energy Risk and Portfolio Analyst to join our Risk & Portfolio Management team. This on-site, full-time role focuses on hedging, scheduling, Renewable Energy Credit tracking, and pricing and rate analysis using SQL, PowerBI, and Excel.

You will analyze power and natural gas positions, develop rate structures, track RECs, and support cross-functional teams with ad-hoc reporting and process improvements. 2–3+ years of experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business Management preferred.
• Strong analytical, critical and economical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to multi-task, grasp complex issues, and be detail oriented.
• 2–3+ years of experience in US power markets and load serving responsibilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proficient in Excel, SQL, PowerBI and VBA.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of North American energy markets.
• Lead process development of rate structures for power and gas groups.
• Collaborate with senior analysts to analyze positions and pricing structures.
• Perform analytical research to propose solutions for rate or operational changes.
• Monitor portfolio to ensure data quality for costing and scheduling.
• Understand contract details, fees, rates, and payment schedules.
• Develop understanding of ISO/RTO markets in North America.
• Oversee rate pricing for power and natural gas businesses.
• Optimize the power portfolio including scheduling, costs, and credits.
• Support risk team with cross training, reporting, and audits.
• Identify and implement process improvements around settlements.
• Ensure compliance with trading and reporting standards.
