Job summary

Xcel Energy is offering an internship starting May 31, 2027 for students in Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Operations Research. The role requires in-person commuting to a designated location with a hybrid work policy and full-time availability during summer or part-time during the school year.

Responsibilities include shadowing analysts, attending team meetings, preparing data for models, loading data, running basic scenario analyses, and reviewing results.

Qualifications

• Current student, Junior or higher
• Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Operations Research
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy

Responsibilities

• Shadow analysts for basic job function skills
• Attend meetings to understand team objectives and current scope of work
• Prepare data for model input
• Load data into model
• Perform basic scenario analysis
• Review model results
