Job summary

First American's Direct division is seeking a Commercial Underwriter to support energy and renewable energy transactions. You will apply underwriting expertise to help develop, finance, acquire, and close energy projects, including solar, wind, and storage assets, with focus on land rights and title issues.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• 5–7 years of title underwriting experience in commercial contexts.
• Experience with energy/renewable energy title transactions.
• Strong communication and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide underwriting support for real estate title commitments and policies.
• Underwrite issuances within delegated authority.
• Review complete title searches for energy/renewable projects.
• Analyze property records including liens, easements, and mineral rights.
• Review legal descriptions and encumbrances affecting projects.
• Identify title issues impacting development, financing, or closing.
• Support transactions across solar, wind, battery storage, and related assets.
• Review and approve deeds, leases, easements, operating agreements, and resolutions.
• Select write-ups for commitments and policies.
• Price commitments, endorsements, and policies per fee schedules.
• Coordinate with title, escrow, legal and customers to resolve issues.
• Communicate title requirements and closing-related matters clearly.
• Consult with attorneys where needed.
