Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking an Associate Director to drive growth and client impact for utility and energy clients in the South Market. You will lead strategic engagements, develop insights, and mentor junior consultants in a fast-paced, hybrid client-facing environment.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years in management consulting or related fields, strong utility knowledge, and the ability to travel up to 50%. The role offers a competitive rewards package and opportunities to shape energy transitions.

Qualifications

• Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent resident, due to the nature of client engagements.
• Bachelor’s degree AND 7+ years post-graduation experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, or a related field, with focus on energy/utilities.
• Master’s degree AND 5+ years post-graduation experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, or a related field, with focus on energy/utilities.
• Strong understanding of utility business models, regulatory environments (NERC/CIP), and transformation drivers.
• Experience in grid modernization/transformation, utility tech integration, AI/ML modernization, and T&D support.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic consulting engagements for investor-owned utilities and energy providers from problem definition to implementation.
• Develop client-ready insights through market research, data analysis, stakeholder interviews, and financial modeling.
• Drive client impact in decarbonization, grid modernization, customer transformation, and digital operations.
• Manage project teams, ensure high-quality deliverables, and ensure on-time execution.
• Support business development through proposals, pitches, and account growth strategies.
