Job summary

FMI Consulting is seeking a high-energy Engagement Manager to join its Energy & Power team. This full-time role may be based in Denver, Raleigh, Houston, Tampa, or remote, with up to 50% travel to client sites.

You will lead internal project teams, coordinate workstreams, define scope with FMI Partners and clients, and drive delivery, communication, and governance while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field; MBA preferred.
• 5–8 years of consulting experience, including at least 3 years in consulting and 2+ years focused on energy and power.
• Direct experience with major capital projects (generation, transmission and distribution, gas transmission, or data centers) preferred.
• Strong program management, executive presence, and leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead internal project teams across multiple workstreams, establishing roles and responsibilities, setting direction on deliverables, and monitoring progress.
• Coordinate interdependent workstreams and manage resources across the engagement, mentoring Analysts, Consultants, and Senior Consultants.
• Participate in scoping with FMI Partners and clients to define project scope before and after the workplan.
• Create client communication schedule and lead kickoff meetings, leveraging FMI resources as needed.
• Develop and align client engagement plans based on workplan and scoping observations, securing agreement on the approach.
• Maintain proactive communication with clients, FMI’s Client Manager, Partners, and project teams throughout the engagement.
• Drive all aspects of program delivery including timelines, executive presentations, meetings, and deliverables.
• Serve as primary day-to-day client contact, building relationships with executive-level stakeholders.
• Develop understanding of FMI services and connect clients with appropriate resources.
• Support account health, proposals, and business development contributing to renewals and growth.
• Mentor and develop junior team members through leadership and coaching.
