Job summary

Susquehanna is seeking an energy desk analyst to analyze data and optimize processes that drive business decisions. You will study electricity supply, demand, and transmission to improve modeling of the United States power grid, supporting forecasting and route optimization.

Responsibilities include maintaining data systems, analyzing historical data in power mapping software, and identifying geographic patterns to inform forecasts, with collaboration across teams in a fast-paced trading

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience in a quantitative/trading environment.
• Bachelor's degree required; specialization in Electrical Engineering or related discipline preferred.
• Creative problem solving and intellectual curiosity about electricity markets and fundamentals.
• Strong communication skills; ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Ability to work as part of a team while having the confidence to act autonomously.
• Strong attention to detail; ability to complete data entry and mapping.
• Experience with VBA, SQL and/or scripting (Python) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain internal data systems to standardize historical and forecasted fundamental data involving electricity supply, demand, and transmission.
• Analyze historical transmission and price data in power mapping software.
• Utilize data findings to highlight geographic patterns to inform energy forecasts.
• Compare different electricity topologies to identify differences that could lead to divergence between nodal costs and payoffs.
