Job summary

Susquehanna is seeking an Electricity Strategist Intern to work with our Energy Research team on data-driven modeling of the US power grid. You will partner with senior strategists and traders to locate information and datasets that improve forecasting and decision making.

The role emphasizes problem solving, attention to detail, and hands-on data work with Python, Pandas and MySQL. Housing is provided and the work culture is casual, collaborative and development-focused.

Qualifications

• Intend to graduate with a bachelor’s or master’s degree within one year of the internship.
• Interest in electricity markets and fundamentals with creative problem solving.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to map data.
• Familiarity with Python, Pandas and MySQL is preferred.
• Self-starting, quick learner, effective communicator and resourceful.

Overview

Susquehanna’s energy and power trading is informed by a strong fundamental understanding of weather prediction as well as supply and demand characteristics. As an Electricity Strategist Intern on Susquehanna's Energy Research team, you will be partnered with our senior strategists and traders to identify information and datasets to improve Susquehanna’s modeling and understanding the United States power grid.

What we’re looking for

• Intention to graduate with a bachelor’s or master’s degree within one year of the internship program in Electrical Engineering or a similar major


• Creative problem solving and intellectual curiosity about electricity markets and fundamentals


• Strong attention to detail; ability to complete data entry and mapping


• Knowledge of technologies related to specific technical domain (including but not limited to: Python, Pandas, MySQL)


• Must be a self-starter, a quick learner, an effective communicator, and resourceful in solving problems
