Job summary

Xcel Energy invites motivated students to join our Gas and Electric Distribution Planning internship, gaining exposure to both electric and natural gas utility planning. You will work on projects that influence infrastructure investments, customer programs, and clean energy strategies, collaborating with engineers, analysts, and planners.

The role supports a mix of analytical and strategic tasks, with a May 24, 2027 start date and a potential extension based on performance and business needs.

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing a degree in a technical or analytical field.
• Enrolled in accredited college/university; able to work full-time during summer (up to 40 hours/week) or part-time during school year (up to 20 hours/week).
• Hybrid/onsite commuting to designated work location as per policy.

Responsibilities

• Support analytical, strategic, and technical projects related to distribution system planning and resource planning.
• Collaborate with planners, engineers, and data analysts to evaluate energy needs and support regulatory filings.
• Gain hands-on experience with utility data, forecasting methodologies, and decarbonization strategies.
• Analyze distributed energy resources, electrification trends, and load growth to inform investments and customer solutions.
