Job description

The Role

Our client is building large scale data center capacity, and they need an Energy Marshal who owns site safety when things get energized. You'll be responsible for the safe isolation, control, and management of every energy source on the job, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic, through construction, commissioning, and startup.

This is the person on site who prevents accidental energization, keeps work practices safe, and protects people and equipment during the highest risk phases of the project. If you've been the one everybody checks with before a breaker moves, this role is for you.

What You'll Do
  • Oversee and enforce Lockout/Tagout procedures for all energy sources on site.
  • Verify and approve energy isolation points before any work starts on electrical, mechanical, or other energized systems.
  • Conduct pre-work safety reviews and energy hazard assessments for construction and commissioning tasks.
  • Coordinate with the electrical, mechanical, and commissioning teams to make sure systems are properly de-energized and grounded.
  • Audit and inspect LOTO devices, tags, and isolation procedures on a regular basis.
  • Keep accurate records of all energy isolations, permits, and clearances.
  • Serve as the single point of control for re-energizing systems once work is complete and verified.
  • Stop any unsafe work involving energy sources immediately.
  • Train and coach site personnel on energy control procedures and best practices.
  • Take part in incident investigations involving energy related events.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company safety standards.
What You Bring
  • At least 5 years of experience in data center construction, industrial commissioning, or high voltage electrical environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of Lockout/Tagout programs and energy isolation procedures.
  • Familiarity with data center power and mechanical systems, including UPS, generators, and switchgear.
  • The ability to read and interpret electrical one-line drawings and P&IDs.
  • OSHA 30 Hour Construction certification is preferred.
  • NFPA 70E Electrical Safety certification is highly preferred.
  • The confidence to work independently and make critical safety calls under pressure.
  • Clear communication and real leadership on a jobsite.
  • A detail oriented approach to documentation and record keeping.
Nice to Have
  • Prior experience as an Energy Marshal, LOTO Coordinator, or Electrical Safety Supervisor.
  • Time on hyperscale or mission critical data center projects.
  • Knowledge of commissioning Levels 3 through 5 and integrated systems testing.
