Job summary

ConocoPhillips is seeking a Land Negotiator Intern to join the Land Organization. You will engage in deal negotiation, contract drafting, due diligence, and support for land and business unit management, gaining exposure to lease and ownership analyses.

Assignments will be at sites in Houston, TX or Midland, TX, lasting 10 to 12 weeks, with mentorship and cross-functional training to apply your college knowledge and work experience in a real energy company setting.

Qualifications

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer and/or education institution
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher (MBA or JD/LL.M.) in Business Administration with a focus in Energy Commerce, Energy Management, Energy Law, Petroleum Land Management, other related field, or foreign equivalent
• Current level in college: Freshman through Senior or Graduate Student
• Expected graduation date: Fall 2027 through Spring/Fall 2030
• Available for internship start mid-late May 2027
• A minimum of ten (10) continuous weeks availability for internship

Responsibilities

• Completing projects targeted to experience level, working with mentor and other land staff, and presenting the results to Lower 48 Land Management
• Exposure to surface or subsurface agreement negotiations, contract drafting, and due diligence
• Assisting with acquiring, trading, or divesting surface or subsurface rights
• Working with legal counsel on various issues including clearing title for drilling and division order purposes
• Collaborating with numerous internal functions such as engineering, geology, finance, and accounting
• Representing ConocoPhillips in dealing with co-owners, mineral owners, surface owners, and local, state, and federal government entities
