Job summary

Fisher Associates seeks a Design Engineer in Rochester, NY to support civil design for energy infrastructure projects, including solar, wind, electric and gas utilities, and pipelines. You’ll work across site design, stormwater, permitting, and construction while collaborating with clients and regulators.

The role emphasizes ownership of technical design work, mentorship, and varied project experience to advance civil engineering skills and deliver projects with community impact.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering required.
• 5–10 years civil engineering experience in energy/utilities/land development.
• EIT required; PE preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with National Grid, National Fuel Gas, or other utility projects.
• Ability to deliver quality work through critical thinking and sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Design site layouts, grading, utilities, drainage, stormwater, and erosion control solutions.
• Develop plans, calculations, estimates, reports, and construction documents.
• Support stormwater and environmental permitting initiatives and ensure designs comply with regulations and industry standards.
• Lead environmental assessments and permitting efforts with clients and regulators.
• Support electric, gas, and telecom utility design and Environmental Management & Construction Plans.
