Job summary

Critical Loop is seeking an experienced Engineering Technician to join the Product Development team to support the build, integration, and testing of next-generation energy hardware.

This hands-on role involves moving between the shop floor and test environment, wiring prototype systems, setting up instrumentation, troubleshooting with engineers, and turning early designs into repeatable, high-quality builds. On-site in Torrance/Long Beach area.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on technician experience in engineering/production roles.
• Experience building/testing precision electromechanical hardware to print in relevant industries (energy/BESS, EV, automotive, aerospace).
• Strong ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, GD&T, BOMs, and drawings.
• Hands-on experience with precision assembly, harnessing, torque specs, crimps, terminations, and connectors.
• Experience setting up test instrumentation and collecting traceable data with DAQ systems, sensors, scopes, and analyzers.
• Knowledge of electrical safety practices (LOTO, PPE) around high-voltage/high-energy equipment.
• On-site work in Long Beach/Torrance and ability to lift ~50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Build, wire, and assemble prototype electromechanical skids, cabinets, switchgear, and subassemblies from engineering docs.
• Perform HV/LV wiring, harnessing, crimping, terminations, connectors, and torque per spec.
• Set up bench and HIL test equipment (inverters, load banks, DAQ, sensors, scopes, meters).
• Execute development and validation tests; capture clean, traceable data.
• Read and interpret electrical/mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, BOMs, GD&T; update docs as needed.
• Identify issues; troubleshoot with engineering to determine root causes and next steps.
• Verify and redline drawings and work instructions from testing experiences.
• Document non-conformances; provide feedback to improve designs and processes.
• Maintain organized lab tools and ensure calibration is current.
• Follow safety practices around high-voltage and high-energy systems (LOTO, PPE).
• Collaborate with Electrical & Controls Engineering, Production, Test, Quality, Field Service.
