Job summary

Salas O’Brien is seeking an Energy Engineer in New York City to support energy and decarbonization efforts. You will analyze energy performance, conduct audits, and lead retro-commissioning across building types while developing cost-effective energy-saving projects and presenting findings to stakeholders.

The role emphasizes technical rigor, clear communication, and collaboration with clients to achieve carbon reduction goals in built environments.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in energy auditing, retro-commissioning and energy analysis.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Experience with large commercial buildings including healthcare, higher education and K‑12.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate energy performance and carbon reduction assessments.
• Conduct ASHRAE Level II & III Energy Audits.
• Perform retro-commissioning in commercial, institutional and multifamily buildings.
• Develop clean energy projects including scope, energy savings calculations and cost estimating.
• Conduct energy savings calculations and economic analyses.
• Present project results to client executives.
