Job summary

Salas O’Brien is seeking an Energy Engineer in New York City to support energy and decarbonization initiatives on project and portfolio levels. You will identify opportunities, perform cost-benefit analyses, and advance energy efficiency and decarbonization programs for built environments.

The role emphasizes analyzing energy performance, conducting ASHRAE audits, and delivering feasible, cost-effective solutions with clear stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ experience in energy auditing, retro-commissioning and energy analysis.
• ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Experience with large commercial buildings (healthcare, higher ed, K-12).
• Strong analytical, written and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate energy performance and carbon reduction assessments.
• Conduct ASHRAE Level II & III Energy Audits.
• Perform retro-commissioning in commercial, institutional and multifamily buildings.
• Develop clean energy projects including scope development, energy savings calculations and cost estimating.
• Conduct technical energy efficiency measure savings calculations and economic analyses.
• Conduct building energy simulation and thermal load analysis.
• Present project results to various stakeholders including client executives.
