As an Energy Efficiency Engineering Lead, you will help customers reduce energy consumption and save money at their facilities by identifying potential energy savings measures, quantifying and summarizing project economics, supporting project implementation, and verifying installation.

At Resource Innovations, we strive to make a positive difference in the world through energy efficiency. We also believe in doing the right thing, getting it right, and finding new and better ways of doing things. If you want to make a difference, value integrity, and provide quality service beyond expectations, we want to hear from you.

Resource Innovations (RI) is a women-led energy transformation firm focused on impact. Building on our expertise in energy efficiency, we're constantly expanding our portfolio of clean energy solutions to guide utilities through increasingly complex, connected challenges. Support may include conducting site audits, completing energy modeling, economic analysis, and/or simulation to quantify energy impacts of recommendations (using spreadsheets and/or energy modeling software), developing project scopes, summarizing implementation details, and/or explaining impacts on operations.
  • Conducts energy analysis for projects at medium to large commercial (high-tech, biotech, labs, healthcare, private institutions etc.) facilities to identify and recommend energy efficiency improvements in a variety of facility energy using systems (lighting, HVAC, compressed air, refrigeration, process heating, motors, central plant, boiler plant, pumping, fuel substitution etc.).
  • Be the primary point of contact with customers on the technical side and join calls with clients to discuss projects with technical details as needed.
  • Writes technical reports (PFS, IR) summarizing results from energy assessments to quantify project economics (energy savings, cost savings, project cost, potential incentive, simple payback, etc.).
  • Conducts measurement and verification (M&V) site visits to establish facility energy usage patterns, identify potential energy savings opportunities, and verify installation of energy savings projects. M&V tasks may include installing field monitoring equipment/data loggers, collecting BAS trend data, completing functional performance tests, obtaining BAS screenshots and equipment photos, and discussing project implementation with the customer and contractor.
  • Prepare regression models for meter-based projects, prepare M&V plan for projects etc.
  • Communicates, coordinates, and assists project stakeholders and participants including program staff, contractors, and utility customers to help ensure customers are maximizing the benefits of utility programs.
  • Delivers professional, high-quality services and builds a quick rapport with utility customers.
  • Completes high-quality deliverables that demonstrate technical excellence, objectivity, and clarity while maintaining project budgets and schedules.
Requirements
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Mechanical, Energy, or related engineering field of study.
  • 5+ years project engineer experience with the energy efficiency industry in California.
  • Understanding of California EE policy landscape and project implementation experience in custom and meter-based projects is a must.
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver's license with a good driving record and a personal vehicle to visit customer sites.
  • Must be able and willing to travel locally up to 20%.
  • Strong proficiency with oral communication, writing, and analytical skills. Planning, coordinating, organization, and self-management in a professional environment is a must.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Efficient in open-source tools for data analysis and model preparation.
  • Interest in sustainability and passionate about making a meaningful impact on the environment.

  • A Master's degree preferably in Mechanical, Energy or related engineering field of study.
