Job summary

Michaels Energy is seeking an energy engineer to support utility energy efficiency programs in New England. This role will perform energy assessments and detailed retro-commissioning (RCx) studies on commercial and industrial buildings, recommend changes to building automation systems, perform energy calculations, and write reports.

Technical tasks include identifying energy efficiency measures, estimating project costs, and writing technical reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, or building systems engineering.
• 4–10 years of experience in energy efficiency, HVAC operations, or building energy investigations.
• Experience with retro-commissioning, ASHRAE level 2 energy audits, or rebate calculations.
• Electrification technologies (heat pumps, heat recovery chillers, etc.).
• Experience managing building retrofit projects and implementing controls upgrades.
• Familiarity with building codes and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform energy assessments and RCx studies on commercial and industrial buildings.
• Recommend changes to building automation systems and perform energy calculations.
• Write technical reports and present findings to clients.
• Engage with clients through on-site and virtual meetings; communicate clearly to diverse audiences.

Education

Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, or building systems engineering

PE license preferred
