Idaho National Laboratory, through its Decision Sciences Department, seeks an early-career Economics Analyst to translate data into decision-relevant economic insights for DOE and stakeholders. You will work with economists, engineers, and researchers to analyze energy technologies, markets, and deployment strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics or closely related field; Master’s preferred or 2+ years of experience.
  • Demonstrated quantitative problem-solving ability and proficiency with spreadsheet analysis.
  • Ability to work on multidisciplinary teams and communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Department of Energy L clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct economic, financial, and techno-economic analyses to inform technology deployment decisions.
  • Gather, clean, validate, and document data from various sources; test key assumptions.
  • Build and maintain transparent models with QA and documentation.
  • Apply cost-, cash flow-, market-, and scenario-analysis methods.
  • Translate technical inputs into economic results for engineers and stakeholders.
  • Assess labor, policy, and supply-chain effects on competitiveness of technologies.
  • Communicate methods and findings via charts, narratives, and presentations.
  • Contribute to reports, publications, and proposals; manage assigned tasks and milestones.
