Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• 4--7 years of complex commercial litigation experience.
• Energy litigation and/or energy regulatory experience required.
• Admission to the State Bar of Texas, or actively taking steps to become admitted in Texas.
• Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
• Experience with oral arguments strongly preferred.
• Experience taking and/or defending depositions.
• Significant party and third-party discovery experience.
• Strong academic credentials.
• Ability to work collaboratively while independently managing assignments and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Handle complex commercial litigation matters through various stages of the litigation process.
• Conduct sophisticated legal research and draft high-quality briefs, motions, memoranda, and other litigation documents.
• Develop persuasive advocacy and written arguments in support of client objectives.
• Manage case-related deadlines, strategy, and day-to-day litigation responsibilities.
• Take a lead role in oral arguments as appropriate.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Manage and participate in substantial party and third-party discovery.
• Analyze complex legal and factual issues and develop practical litigation strategies.
• Work closely with partners and other attorneys to advance sophisticated matters.
• Communicate directly with clients and contribute to client-facing activities.
• Participate in business development initiatives and help cultivate client relationships.
